    Recommend a good S-IPS 24" widescreen LCD?

I've decided my Dell 2407WFP-HC isn't cutting it for games any more. Never noticed any input lag but I don't play twitched based games. What I have noticed a lot lately is the ghosting in some games, especially WoW. I don't like TN panels since I do view and edit a fair amount of digital SLR photos on my desktop and greatly favour accurate colour reproduction. Thought I'd try an S-IPS based panel instead of S-PVA this time. Anyone got any recommendations? Budget is flexible but probably won't spend more than £1000. Must have accurate colour reproduction with a broad palette and minimal or ideally no noticeable ghosting.

OCUK sell the Hazro 24" S-IPS panel, but just for reference they are releasing the new revision any week now with some improvements, but still the screen is getting very favourable feedback

Re: Recommend a good S-IPS 24" widescreen LCD?

There really aren't many 24" S-IPS panels around, AFAIK. The one above is about the first one I've heard of, other than the one that comes with a 24" iMac.

    Maybe I'm just very uninformed...

If you've got a grand to spend, why not by a 30" monitor? The Dell 3008 WFP was going for exactly a grand on PcBuyIt the other day. Seems to have gone up a bit now though...

I would but 30" is a tad big for my office .

Problem is that monitor has a poor colour gamut

Re: Recommend a good S-IPS 24" widescreen LCD?

Have you ever thought about dual-view, using your present panel plus a 2ms TN for gaming? It could be valuable for Photoshop - preview the image on the Dell (I presume it is calibrated) and the menus/toolbars/dialogs on the TN.

Here's a list of IPS panels from TFTCentral:
    http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/search.p...S&select=panel

On a monitor this big, I'd also look for HDCP compliance for when HD content becomes more ubiquitous.

A 30" monitor would be great for photo editing (huge resolution increase), but could be tough for gaming in terms of native resolution (requiring top-end hardware) and refresh rate.

If your budget is almost £1000 and you're serious about colour accuracy and image quality, I'd suggest you look at the Eizo range - they are the cream.

I have considered dual monitors, but it's tricky with the current study set up (shared with wife who works from home a bit). We're considering a bespoke study installation but that could be months away. I'm looking for a GFX card upgrade anyway (come on ATI, show us what you have) so changing hardware in that respect isn't a big deal, still not sure my study space can handle a 30" screen though.

Will check out the Eizo range, thanks.

I've heard it still suffers from the inverse ghosting problem that my 2407HC has. Shame, as it does have an excellent colour gamut.
