I was wondering if any VP930 owners had this issue before. After the monitor has been on for about 10-15mins certain colours on the screen begin to flicker. A vague sort of vertical line pattern can be made out in large flickering areas.
It seems I've been unlucky with this monitor and I'm currently on my 3rd one within 2 years, all with the same problem.
LCD #1 lasted 2 months, LCD #2 lasted 7 months, LCD #3 lasted 14 months, and it's still within the 3 year warranty.
When I rang up to report the problem this time the lady told me that it wasn't a fault with the unit. I pointed out that I had tried changing VGA and DVI cables, different graphics cards (both video outs), and even tried it on different PCs. She spoke to her higher ups for a bit and came back and told me that I wasn't getting a replacement. Perhaps I've hit the limit to the number of replacements they're allowed to give out.
She also said that the previous returned units were tested and found not to be faulty and that the most likely cause of the problem was due to interference from some external device like a router. Would any display experts like to comment on this?
Here's some pictures. I used a monitor test tool to show different colour gradients and it's only certain shades of green that seem to be affected, along with anything that contains green (yellow, cyan etc).
Just after power on:
After about 10mins, flickering vertical bands appear:
Red and blue are ok:
The contour lines of colour on the right are the flickering areas; TV on the left with the normal image:
Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated as I'm sitting here confused and wondering if it's time to just give up on this problematic monitor and splash out on a new widescreen model. But first I need to lie down and rest my eyes.
