I'm actually quite happy at how well the 9800GTX stacks up against the 260

Can't see me upgrading for a while (no way can I afford a 280 atm)

Re: Nvidia GTX 260 and 280 review

the 260 is actualy VERY good card, but like many have said being BETTER and being noticeabaly BETTER are two differant things.

the 260 is a much better card than gtx9800, but if you have GTX9800 there 0 point in trying to upgrade, BUT if you have lets say 8800GT/GTS or 7 or 6 type cards then is worth upgrade .

mainly due to AA and higher res gaming, also nice to see the 260 ocing potencial.

basicaly if you have a GTX8800/ULTRA or GTX9800 or 9800GX2 no point.

I've bought the Asus 280 GTX from Scan and i'm very satisfied with it.

It does not say on the site but they include a 2x6-pin to 8-pin convertor and a 2xMolex to 6-pin convertor aswell.

Overall a superfast card. I can run Counter-Strike Source at 16xAA & 16xAF with all options maxed and have no slowdown, smooth as butter, amazing!

you can probably do CS:S with that settings on 60fps with a 8800GT..

I can do 16xAA with 16xAF on 1680x1050 on my 8800GT and its no challenge really.. (and no point given you can't really see past 8x)..

What is more appropriate for 280GTX is Crysis on 2560x resolutions.

Basically my notion does, no Apple Cinema 30'' or at least a 2408WP? no point getting a 280GTX... 260GTX or 4850 dualies would have suffice... save that 100 somewhere else..
    Me want Ultrabook

Re: Nvidia GTX 260 and 280 review

For me, looking to buy a gfx card, the GTX260 is good value and cheaper than buying a 8800GTX (which is what I wanted originally).

Re: Nvidia GTX 260 and 280 review

I'm still not sure about the GTX 280.

I have a new Dell 24" so the Res could be a problem for other cards.

On the other hand though, I could just buy a 9800 GX2 for £150 less and get better performance in some games.

I see the advantage of having just one card but is that advantage worth £150?

    Im not so sure.

the gx2 being taken off market soon as released by nvdia, sinse the 260 and 280 ,(260 mainly) rival its performance and price.

if you want top notch super high res, then go for gtx280, but you pay the price for it.

the 260 will offer very much simular performance but just not as good AA and super high res.

id wait for ATI 4870 sinse it also supposed to be around 260--280 spec while cheaper

also mabye consider getting 4850s in crossfire? sinse performance of them is between the GTX260 and upto nearly 280 performance while costing only 26-280 quid.
