Ideally single slot, but dual slot is possible although it needs to be able to fit in a small space (SG01-e) and hopefully not use up the rear second pci blanking plate...
What can people recommend me?

Air or water???
Looking for air coolers.
I think the holes changed so it caused massive compatibility problems and that is why there arent many out at the moment
Any views on the akasa? Reviews seem scarce, hopefully it is only UV reactive and doesnt have LEDs but £20 seems a lot of money for a cooler, arctic coolers tend to be around £12... (well the old ones did)

Review of the Akasa cooler
It does have blue LEDs in the fan.
£20+ is what your looking at paying for any thrid party coolers nowa days to be honest. New Zalmans are nearly £30 and some Thermalright coolers are £30+ aswell.

How about something like this - Accelero S1 Rev. 2, which although a little large has 100% passive cooling so makes no noise at all![]()

I'm wondering how the PWM will keep up with no cooling at all ?
Shud be ok if there is decent air flow.

well in the few short minutes i had the vortex, zalman mini heatsinks and 4850 paired up my temp had dropped to pretty much what you say thereunbelievable considering there is actually less weight to the vortex than the 4850 stock cooler. unfortunately my motherboard decided to go titsup between restarts and is now an rma case, and my second pc cant cope with both the 9850 and 4850 in at the same time... balls

I know it's out of your budget muddyfox470, maybe this'll be useful to someone else looking for a cooler for the 38xx series.
One of the best coolers I've read (although pricey) are the Thermalright ones. THIS is the latest to fit theATI 38xx series.
