    hd4850 hdmi and driver issues

my system (see drop down) has been stuck on my other computers VGA cable, because HDMI isnt working with the dongle or a dvi to hdmi cable i have. Also, the highest available resolution is 1024 x 768 and cant go any higher, even though the screen can do 1900 x sonething. i think its a driver problem, but ive installed the hotfix, and reinstalled drivers twice with no success.

    does anyone have any ideas

Re: hd4850 hdmi and driver issues

right, whats the model of your tv and rougly how old is it?

there's a few things that could be wrong. afaik the 4850 only has dvi and hdtv ports, so i'm assuming you're using a dvi to vga dongle. as thats working i believe it isn't the card thats the problem. so first thing i'm thinking is that the tv isn't able to display that resolution or that it does support hdcp.... i could be wrong, but to rule out its the card fault then try it on something not vga. have you got a dvi monitor you can plug in?
