    Recommend me a TFT Screen.

Hi, I currently have a 17" mitsubishi diamond pro 740sb crt and am completely happy with it BUT those TFT are just so nice I've got to have one either to save desk space or run along side my current monitor (much more likely)

Top of my list so far is the Hercules ProphetView 920Pro DVI which gets decent reviews.

    Opinions?

    Thanks

    Scott

    Ditto regarding the Hyundai Q17.

Uses exactly the same screen (Hyundai's own Hydis panel) as the Herc.

At £320, it would be rude not to.

people often assume that panel is all. two screens use the same panel, one is cheaper, so you buy that. right?

    actually, no.

there's more to a tft than just the panel. panel _IS_ important, sure! however there are other concerns which people overlook, leaving them with a dodgy screen like a Q17. first of all, examine the warranty of the screen. it sounds like a silly thing to base a purchase on, but for over 30,000 pennies, you don't want to be left in crap warranty hell if saomething goes wrong. next, you need an OBJECTIVE look at the circuitry accompanying a screen. TFT filter circuitry signifies how good the picture will look from VGA (and to a lesser extent DVi), and low-quality filters will lead to a blurry picture.

As a comparison, a Q17 and Iiyama Prolite E430S next to each other, there's absolutely no contest - the Iiyama gives a _MUCH_ better picture, comes with Iiyama's unbeatable after-sales support, and is a bargain.

Worth noting is that you should IGNORE quoted response times. really. try checking for the same screen on US & UK websites for a company, and they'll often qute different numbers. It's an arbitrary measure. I've never seen ghosting in games or media on my 30msec screen, but I have seen it on some 25's

so, in your position, i'd get an Iiyama Prolite E431S. I've seen one in use looking damn sexy, and you can't beat Iiyama's support.

and with 6 desktop TFTs in this house, I've seen pleanty to speak from a position of authority
