Question Nvidia card on Crossfire Motherboard

Can anyone tell me if there any compatibility/performance issues with putting an nvidia card (8800GT) on to a Crossfire based motherboard (Asus P5KC)?

Also im assuming you can still use a 8800GT in XP?

    Thanks

No problem & yes, you can use XP (although you won't get DX10).
Only thing that you can't do is add a second 8800GT & run SLI on a Crossfire chipset mobo.

    Are you sure about that?
A link was sent to me a little while ago when i asked if my Crossfire mobo could run SLi and the knowledgable person said yes

Follwing on from this, i'd like to check that i can run an 8600GTS graphics card with a crossfire compatible mobo as i've been led to believe they will only accept ATI cards. If so Scan will be getting a call

PCIe is still PCIe, it doesn't matter who makes the chipset. You only need to worry about Crossfire/SLi crap when you have two GPU cards.

Re: Nvidia card on Crossfire Motherboard

I can confirm it's ok - I'm running a 7900GX2 on an Asus P5WDH deluxe. The card is actually the OEM model that lead to the 7950GX2, so it's SLI on a single card, and the board is for crossfire.

What I'm hoping to be able to do in future is get a DX10 card, and put that in the other PCIe slot. I won't be able to run SLI with my SLI card, but I will be able to connect 4 screens. Don't see why I should get rid of the card that I already have if I can find a use for it.

Yes. It's only really when you start doing multi-card graphics that chipset limitations appear.
