    erm ... 3dmark scores

Given the rig I've got, what kind of scores should I be expecting, did the benchmarks last night and got 9150 on 3dmark2001se and 2100 on the 2003 edition...does that sound about right.

Either way, has anyone got any ideas how I can increase my system performance - i've tried overclocking, but its none too happy with it, although with my old 1800xp+ it didn't seem to be an issue.

Dunno what anyone else thinks, but that sounds low to me esp on the 2001se score (haven't bothered w '03 much). Have you got the latest motherboard drivers and Catalyst drivers for your 9600?

As far as I am aware, I'm sure that when I ran 2001 a while ago I had a score of 19k, gonna check this evening (assuming I can get online) to make sure everything is up to date.

With regards to overclocking, would a different motherboard be a good bet? Cooling isn't a problem, got a Coolermaster Aero 7 and 4 80mm case fans ( 2 in, 2 out).

Fatboy, to be honest your best bet is checking the orb...its stupid not to use it. They'll be LOADS of ppl with probably exactly the same spec as you to compare with.

I'll probably do that, just thought I'd see if you guys had any ideas whilst I'm stuck at work.

One thing I may do is reformat and reinstall everything, its due for a bit of a spring clean

    Anyhoooooooo, we'll see what happens.

i dont think drivers are an issue, usually 3.2's or 3.5's are the "general" most popular for 3d mark 2k1, but they again its not a benching rig is it? u want to play games on it so u want the latest drivers.

Yup, reformatting is the way to go I think, anyway, what else am I going to do this weekend if not reload gig after gig of "vital" games etc?

As for the performance issue, watch this space.

Did that, everything was set to max performance and still sadly lacking , like I said earlier I am sure I had a much higher result not too long ago and have messed around with ALL my settings (overclocking, graphics etc), so gonna go back to the start and see what happens - cheers for your input all in any case. Still got to get the 2600 overclocking (as at the moment my 1800 was operating at a higher speed) ....
