    8800GT with Zalman VF900

I am going to install this cooler tonight or tomorrow and want to know how important it is to install the extra heat sinks for the mosfets if that is indeed what they are called.

I'm not overclocking at the moment and don't have any plans to. So are they really necerssary?

I would definitely put some form of ramsinks on the VRM's, they can reach insanely high temperatures even if you aren't overclocking. You could buy something like a pack of Zalman ZM-RHS1 which are very cheap will do the job nicely.

When you're installing those ramsinks, make sure you use a peice of plastic like a creditcard or similar object to push down on them, if you use your fingers bare they will dig into your skin and lift off very slightly when you take your finger off, I've even had them drop off when taking my finger away.

These would be nice but just can't justify the expense.

    Re: 8800GT with Zalman VF900

Hehe yeah that is a bit extravagant, kinda like Zalman ZM-RHS88 - so not worth the money, rather just buy the heatsinks for a few quid. Glad you're sorted however :)
