Bad frame rates on 7900GT all of a sudden.
Hi all, this started in last few days, 25fps is pretty poor in BF2, the temps seem ok though I did give the cards cooler a dedust the other day when saw the temps were at 75. I've got 2 gig of ram so I don't think its that, and I checked to make sure windows still says I've got 2 gig installed and a stick has not come loose.
I can't test it on other games as BF2 is about all I play, I'll try and find a directx test though.

Re: Bad frame rates on 7900GT all of a sudden.
I don't know why the fps is so poor, posibly time to consider a new GPU, as the 7900 is getting old now.
Could get another program to test temps - I am not sure how accurate that one is (32,000RPM CPU fan seems a tad high!!!!:OMG: and 18RPM AUX seens very low:(... You could try overclocking the GPU, if the temps are real, something like riva tuner would do the job
Re: Bad frame rates on 7900GT all of a sudden.
I know its pretty old, but I was getting way better FPS till a few days ago, and BF2 is a old game now.
Re: Bad frame rates on 7900GT all of a sudden.
Did you recantly download some patch, which has caused the lower frame rates, or possibly a newer driver for your GPU, could be causing the issues...

Have to accidentally activated Anti Aliasing and Anisotropic Filtering, where you might not have had it before?
Re: Bad frame rates on 7900GT all of a sudden.
Another possible reason: is something running in the background which wasn't a few days ago. A new anti-virus? Check CPU useage on the Task Manager (ctrl+alt+del)

Don't feel bad; I slaughtered my UT3 framerates earlier today by setting an option in nVidia CP when I already had it active in-game (AF, actually...both in-game and the CP were trying to do 16x and even though the CP was set to override the in-game settings...dunno why. I might have also set AA too high, since I had it at 8xQ; I set it back to 4x the same time I turned back off AF in the CP). Whichever one was the culprit, undoing those changes fixed it. My framerate had been reduced by nearly 70%; it was pretty bad, but its all fixed now. :D
Still, given how that card is pretty aged now, I'd look into upgrading it sometime in the future; a good 8-series card or even some 9-series cards from nVidia can be had for pretty cheap now, as can many newer ATI cards. :)
