    22" Monitor - advice please

Buying a new system and need some help with a 22" monitor please.

Okay im not extremely technical and not very up to date so basically here is what i will be using the monitor for - i need an all in one due to space restrictions.
    PC use - browsing etc
    Movies
    Gaming
TV...... for this i presume I will just have to get a TV card - are 22" monitors capable of displaying TV okay? TV is quite important

I have looked at a few monitors.... budget is about £170 ex VAT

    The LG L226 http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=587955
    The Samsung 226 http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=604046
    The LG W225 http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=800961
    The Neovo http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=628496

Cheaper would be better i suppose - HD possibility would be good if possible.

    Any suggestions/advice would be great!!
Also is it possible to get some form of adapter to play a gamecube on this monitor via a SCART lead or something...?

The Neovo keeps popping up on Today Only and seems very good value.

Re: 22" Monitor - advice please

I'm getting an Acer P223W. Found it cheapest at Argos. My dad has the Samsung 2232BW. It looks really nice (when off) really nice gloss black "pebble" and when on it blows my LG out of the water, colours are fantastic, and ghosting, what ghosting. 2ms response time. It is a really nice monitor, one reason why i feel the need to upgrade mine!

From experience I wouldnt recommend an LG (colours look washed out, mild ghosting)

I got the 22" Samsung to replace my dying Viewsonic 21" a few weeks ago and i love it, much better than what it replaced, Samsung even give you a cleaning cloth with it which i thought was a nice touch.

I've got the Samsung 226bw, and I love it; its great for games. And I can confirm it comes with a cleaning cloth. Also, they included both VGA and DVI cables, the latter of which I thought was a nice touch.

Re: 22" Monitor - advice please

I also have the Samsung SM226BW - it really IS the puppy's privates

I bought it because my 19" Viewsonic expired after 3 years and 3 months.
After buying the Samsung I opened up the Viewsonic and found the power board was blown.
I contacted Viewsonic to see if I could get a new power board and instead they sent me (for free) a refurbished monitor because it 'was only 3 months outside the warranty' - no P&P either !
    Excellent customer service there

Mrs Scroffy is now the owner of the 19" refurb
Whereas I'm really happy with the 22" Samsung.
    Can't think of anything funny

lol Nice. I plan on handing off my Samsung to my girlfriend later on when I upgrade my monitor (likely to a Samsung 24"). In the meantime, I love my Samsung SM-226bw.

Its good to hear ViewSonic's support is solid; I'll keep them in mind the next time I shop for monitors.

For budget around £170 ex VAT, theres nothing else more suitable than the LG L227WT. Its currently 178 quid without VAT but free shipping from ebuyer.

Very fast panel, near 0 input lag for gaming and has excellent color reproduction once calibrated. Viewing angles can be a problem but so are every other 22" in existence.

Go there and have a butcher's around

Unfortunately it looks like if you want wide viewing angles you'll need to go up to 24" size.

Re: 22" Monitor - advice please

Another vote for the samsung 2232bw, i have had mine for about 2 months and its great.

I found that if you download and use the following ICC calibration profile with natural colour pro it realy improves the colours.

Was going to include the url for the icc profile but as im a new member it wont let me so ill come back after i each 5 posts and edit this one.
