just a little note: make sure to do custom setup and un-tick 'world of warcraft: 10 day free trial', unless you want to play WOW that is...
not tested the improved performance claims yet though..
Ah nice to see the partnership with Blizzard is showing some signs of being alive. Not that I care for a trial of a game I already play but nice to see :P.
And those release notes are under a secure http connection for your eyes only kalniel :P. Here is link for PDF notes: http://game.amd.com/us-en/content/pdf/Catalyst_87.pdf
Oh and the linux driver is great for my ubuntu install that i set up merely days ago - seems AMD on my beck and call!
With my 4870 I saw some graphics corruption in the water as you fly over it during a bombing run quest, wonder if that is fixed in 8.7, not mentioned but never know. That magical driver some months ago increased my 2900xt's performance in Crysis by some 40% and never mentioned it!
hmmm... cant get the fanspeed working properly anymore... was fine with 8.6 hotfix and 8.7beta - editting the xml profile... but now i seem to be stuck on super-low-fan-speed at 86degree heat :(
Any performance overclocking increases?
I was running the hotfix drivers before and these have made no difference what so ever.
The performance in game is the same (although was good before), the benchmarks are still the same (and very poor for me in vista 64)
And they still havn't sorted out the fan speed so the temps are still around 78C
