    Help choosing 19" monitor

Can anyone suggest a good value 19" widescreen monitor to connect to my laptop. It must be height adjustable. I think I prefer the glossy screens. I have been looking at the LG Flatron L197WH but not sure if matt or glossy screen. Do you know how you can tell the difference in the spec?

Bad new, height adjustable stands useally only come on high end monitors which are not cheap.

Good news, you can get adjustable stands fairly cheaply, or adjustable arms that clamp onto a desk.
    eg freestanding adjustable stand £26
    http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=583276
To fit these things you unscrew and remove the stand that comes with you monitor then screw this onto the 4 screw holes on the back on the monitor, dirt simple.

While not a glossy screen the Hannspree NewYork is supposed to be quite good for a budget monitor, I quite like the stand on this and it has 2 height settings, but it's not a simple "lift" to change the height, you have to unscrew it move the position and rescrew it.

But for around £100 it's a good price.

EDIT: looking at that LG L197WH, it's a very nice looking stand, no idea if it's glossy, sorry.

Many thanks. Fitting a new stand is definitely something to consider. Are there more options around if I move up to 20" screen?

    Re: Help choosing 19" monitor

Two thing to be aware of moving up to a 20", price goes up and so does the resoltuion.
    Widescreen common resolutions
    17"-19" = 1440x900
    20"-22" = 1680x1050
    24"+ = 1920x1200

All depends what you want to use it for, if gameing stick with the lower res 19" as laptops don't have great graphics and would sturggle with the higher res of a 20"
If it's for watching dvd's then you should be fine with the higher res.
You used to be able to pic up the old HD 1080i tv's cheaply (only 1366x768 res) but there don't seem to be any offers about anymore best I found is this 26" ex demo one ebuyer http://www.ebuyer.com/product/144264
