Loooow 3D Mark 06 Score??

Hi all :D

Finally got a 4850 from PCWorld, after waiting soo long for the ICEQ4 Turbo, I just took a gamble on this one, and the price was right :P

Run the 3D Mark 06 and got a score of: 12292

SM2.0:4630
SM3.0:5623
CPU:3990

My CPU is a Q6600 @ 3.0Ghz, there was also soo much banding in the demo!! I have upgraded from a 8800GT 512mb, which was scoring around 11000, I thought this would be around 16000?

Thanks :D, also I think I am running Catalyst 8.8?

Don't really think that's a bad score, if I remember correctly, the GTX280 scored little over 14.000 ^_-
But I could be wrong on this.

What resolution are you using though? I'm guessing something arround 19"?

You have to remember that 3DMARK06 is very CPU bound with these new generation of cards. You have to OC your CPU to get the score a lot higher. I suggest you switch to Vantage which pays lesser attention to the slower CPU present in current systems to give a better overall score.

I used Vantage, and got a score like P 6457 or something?

That's not a bad score, just look at this; (these scores are on extreme presets though)

The 3DMark06 score seems good. Well, much better than mine @ 6800. :mrgreen:
