Anyone got a 4870X2?
I'm thinking about buying one. How are people getting on with them?
Any input would be greatly appreciated. :)

i was going to get one but the heat and power draw did it for me
I think I would just save the bother and buy the 280GTX, it's pretty good value now.
Unless you are playing above 1920 x 1200 then it will make little difference anyway.
That's maybe because at lower resolutions both cards perform almost the same to each other (depending on game)
So unless you're playing on a resolution above 26", the X2 won't do any better, in fact, I think the 280 would outperform the X2 on resolutions lower than that.
1920 x 1200 thats the res i will be using the 280 at . when it ever gets in stock
Yea, the X2 is definitely a bit overkill. GTX280 all the way, it's currently on my mental wish list!
While true for todays games how much longer before we get another crysis situation where we need to move down a res even with a 4870 x2. With all those stream processors games with up to 24x caafff or what ever they call it will scale well on a 1920 x screen. Apart from crysis which does not like any gfx card!!! Most games need a 30" screen to really benefit but as a I said if you crank everything up in CCC you can stress the card at 1920 x and there will be games in 6 months to a year that will come along that may require settings to be turned down. I believe that the ATI cards will 'play' better with future games but time will tell.

Probably true BUT we can live in hope. Beleive me though even on a 1920 x res when you turn on all the settings in CCC you start to stress the card BUT MY GOODNESS do things look good. Friend has one in his system and when the 24 CFAA is switched on the performance does start to drop (although his cpu may cause some of that)

Not only that but hopefully there won't be many more games released which are written so badly.
A 4870x2 should see about 70-80% higher framerate then it currently does in crysis. Its one of the few recent titles which gets very little benefit from a multi-GPUs.
I really do wish people (shaithis not directed at you in particular) would stop worrying about Crysis performance (I believe Hexus have stopped using it in reviews now for this very reason) it is after all 1 game which from all points of view (ATi and nVidea) was badly conceived, ATi and nVidea have improved performance by tweaking drivers etc but personally I would have them spend time making them better for all games and increasing stability rather than concentrating on optimising them for a particular title which is never going to see the performance it should from the current cards because of how it is coded.
I agree. Alot of people won't even want to play Crysis and when that's the only game used for testing it doesn't really help people to pick hardware as most games will have much better frame rates.
