which Graphics card for a 24"?

Currently planning the build of my new PC and I've decided to go for the Dell ULTRASHARP 24" monitor. The question now is which graphics card will be support my 1920x1200 gaming?

Its got to be either the 280GTX or 4870 X2 hasn't it?

But would the extra £100 be worth it for the 4870 X2? Would I see any real improvement if I'm not gaming on res over 1920x1200?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The GTX 280 should be fine at that res. It may be worth considering the ati 4870 as it can also quite easily handle that res as well

Re: which Graphics card for a 24"?

generally for <1920x1200 go for a HD4850 or 9800gtx/+ gtx 260 (for high end solutions... and there are obv others and they will cope with 1920x1200+)

and for >1920x1200 then go for gtx 280/ HD4870 (or if you have a crazy high res, then the 4870x2)

    i'm about to upgrade to support 1920x200 and 1900x1080, and i'm thinking of plumping for a 9800gtx+ @ ~£130 (currently running a 8600GTS at those res' )

Re: which Graphics card for a 24"?

As I suspected, the 280GTX is likely the better value.

    Cheers for the advice!
