    Monitor Help

After a rollercoaster of hell with the Hyundai W240D 24" screen i have decided to get a 20" monitor but dont really know which to get as most seem quite similar, although im quite sure you guys know the best of them. Can anyone give me some suggestions on what to get, thx

Budget isn't really much of an issue.

    Re: Monitor Help

Well if budget isn't an issue the Dell 2007WFP is a fantastic monitor, One of the very best I have used. It either comes with an S-IPS panel if you are lucky or an S-PVA panel which is still awesome.

Has DVI, VGA, S-video and composite inputs which are handy for sticking only consoles or freeview boxes in. It has Picture in Picture so you can use the PC and freeview at the same time too

There are a lot cheaper monitors out there though, it just depends what is important.

I'm getting the Samsung 2043BW in black.
Did some research on monitors, picked a few I liked, and started comparing, ended up with that one, had a few recommendations for the Samsung ones ;d

    Re: Monitor Help

They're Ok but nothing special.. just TN panels like everything else you find in that price range.

Tbh.. TN's are fine though, I use one for my second monitor and it's ok. I just far prefer the colour reproduction on my dell

    Re: Monitor Help

Im not quite sure whether to go for the 2007WFP or 2009WFP. There are posts on forums of people saying 2009WFP is poor but that always seems to be linked with the fact that it is TN and 2007WFP wasn't so not sure whether the screen is actually good.

    Re: Monitor Help

I got mine from this place
    http://www.itcsales.co.uk/acatalog/2..._Displays.html

Customer service was a touch grouchy, but they are in stafford so that is understandable

    Re: Monitor Help

Sorry to hijack the thread but ikix could you please explain what issues you had with the Hyundai screen? And was it the PVA or TN version that you had? I ask because I too am having problems with one.

And what are the shipping costs at the itcsales website? I can't seem to find a link with any numbers

    Re: Monitor Help

I can't remember tbh.. it wasn't horrendous though. £6 maybe.

EDIT: Just found the order it was £12, ouch! Still cheaper than anywhere else in total though ( at the time)

    Re: Monitor Help

Hmmm, shame there's no way of reducing delivery but their hardware prices are actually quite good. Useful for me since if/when this monitor gives in I think I might be in the market for a 2408wfp (assuming I can get rev A01)

Thanks for the help, especially Mike

With regards my Hyundai it has green lines randomly on the screen and can sometimes almost cover half the screen. I had one that was replaced but the second one has done exactly the same aswell so i've sent it back for a refund rather than be dissapointed again.

Ah, that's the exact same problem I'm having. I think mine will have to be a return job too then. I've tried different cables, different computers and the problem was still there so I guess it has to be the monitor. The thing is it doesn't happen 100% of the time, very odd. Was yours the PVA or TN version ikix?

    Re: Monitor Help

Mine was the PVA version. It does seem to happen randomly but there are a few places where i can guarantee it to be, when pressing ctrl+alt+del in windows vista the screen it takes you too has them on the right hand side and in steam games the server list always has it at the tabs. There is something too it though as when watching a video if i freeze it at a point where i see them they stay there so it is a particular thing. I had 2 different graphics cards through it and different connectors aswell and the problem was still there, so now that you have the same problem im not in any doubt that its the monitor and hyundai seriously need to have a look at this issue because otherwise it is a very nice screen.

Instead of pondering on which Dell to get... why not just get the 24" Yuraku YV24WBH1 (P-MVA/HDCP) many people on this and other forums have raved about?
It's available for just £205 (+ delivery) from Tekheads

Best hurry if you want it from them though, 'coz they've only one left in stock!

    Re: Monitor Help

I have just bought the dell 2009wfp, i felt like a smaller screen really and its actually nicer having a smaller screen, the desk space doesn't seem so small anymore and just nicer, easier on the eyes too . Being a TN the picture on the dell isn't as good as the hyundai ofcourse but its nice to have 3 year warranty and no dead pixel issues etc. Plus the screen does look very nice and good to have a matt finish screen again, no more annoying glare on the edges
