    Dell S2409W Full HD Monitor

I'm tempted to splash out a bit for the Dell S2409W Full HD Monitor or do you think its not worth it, compared to others on the market?

Current monitor is an old Dell box the screen diagionally appears to be 16inch.

Although a 20-22inch screen would be fine.

Monitor has to be value for money as I only watch tv dramas/movies etc. Also for graphic/photography art work.

Whats everyone's opinion on Dell or other makes?

I've also been looking at this monitor, and 24" monitors in general. I don't know what disadvantages (other than the 120 vertical pixels) this has over the 20% more expensive E248.

Monitor has to be value for money as I only watch tv dramas/movies etc. Also for graphic/photography art work.
Because this is a TN screen, its colour reproduction won't be as good as a more expensive/smaller screen of a different type might be.

Re: Dell S2409W Full HD Monitor

The S2409 is 1920x1080 instead of the more normal 1920x1200. This mean that it is 16x9 instead of 16x10. If you plan to watch TV this should work great for it (my guess is it may have even been designed with that in mind). On the other hand I personally prefer a more square aspect ratio so that may bother you. That said the monitor will certainly be an upgrade from the (CRT?) that you have.

As for the cost I bought Dell's 20" 1600x1200 panel a few years ago and its been a great investment. I think people undervalue how much a good LCD can add to their computer. For me it is the most important part. And thus I was willing to spend about 2/3 of what the rest of my computer cost me to get the panel. Remember that the LCD is what you stare at all day, not the motherboard.
