Text looking ugly on ViewSonic VP930
No matter what I do, the text looks wrong. With font smoothing set to Standard, the letters are too thin and look chipped, and with ClearType it looks smudged, with some green or blue pixels between the letters... Any idea how this can be solved? If anyone has the same monitor, it would be great if they shared their settings...
Re: Text looking ugly on ViewSonic VP930
I take it you are running at the optimum (native) resolution for the monitor which in your case is 1280*1024 if not change that and see what it looks like.

Yes, I'm running at 1280x1024@60Hz. I also tried at 75Hz, but nothing changed.

Have you tried Microsoft PowerToys for Windows XP ClearType Tuner? It might help. You can find it here http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/d...powertoys.mspx with a few other Helpful Apps. I personally Like Image Resizer and TweakUI.

I tried it. It helped a bit... the text is still relatively ugly but I got used to it...
Thanks for trying to help!
Re: Text looking ugly on ViewSonic VP930
Firstly, have you had another screen attached recently where the text looked fine?
Secondly, while it may not matter at native resolution, it may be worth trying the various video card option that decides on how scaling is performed. There are normally 3 options: None (black border), Video card and Monitor.

try looking at the monitor's onboard settings, specifically the Sharpening setting - I had to reduce my Samsung 205BW down by 1 notch to get it perfect
