Low Profile Passive HDMI GPU :(

ok i know i have a thread already asking about this kind of thing but it seems i put it in the wrong section as i forget there was a graphics section and the title kinda isn't relevant now... Basically I know i need either an 8500gt or a 3450... but after looking at scan, yoyotech, overclockers, ebuyer, aria, kustompcs and specialtech i cant find one of these which is low profile with the smaller bracket, passive and outputs via hdmi... I would prefer an 8500gt but tbh either will do but it seems everywhere has only a small selection and none of them have what i want... anyone know anywhere else i can find one...

well you get the DVI to hdmi adapter with the ATi. The 8500GT is almost always full height.

Pertty much any of the HD3450's will become low profile I believe. If you can't find one that does come with the bracket you can buy the brackets seperately from scan I believe.

here is the actual low profile sapphire

But by unplugging the VGA and fitting a low profile bracket I'm sure the normal sapphire one will be fine.

    here is the braket kit

The Club3D HD3450 comes with the low-profile brackets.

Be aware that some cards look low profile, like the ASUS one, and while the PCB is low profile, the heatsink stretches out above it. I've got the ASUS in a box at work as it didn't fit in my HTPC, even though those XFX brackets fit (which is why I bought the Club3D card in the end).

Ah. I got mine from Komplett, but clearly that would be a touch difficult now that they've closed their shop in the UK.

Still, ordered from Overclock.co.uk before, and they seem perfectly fine. Been around for a good few years now. No experience with any of the others listed on Google Shopping though.

Re: Low Profile Passive HDMI GPU :(

People slag off these low end cards, but I think they are being a bit unkind.

Don't expect the latest games in high res.

I once played Half Life-2 right through on an Nvidia 5200 card, compared to that your 8500GT is a flyer

3450 is around about on par with the 6800GT.

So, not blistering performance but still capable of playing a lot of games. A friend of mine plays wow maxed at 1280x1024 on a 6800GT if that's any idea of performance for you.
