24" TFT Monitor

Im thinking about splashing out and getting myself a nice big 24" full 1080p monitor ready for PC upgrade after christmas. The reason im not doing it all in one is because i would like to use my other 19" monitor for my HTPC until i can afford a HD tv aswell. I do a lot of different media work (photo/video etc) aswell as a lot of gaming. I would liek as many digital inputs as possible and a brightness of at least 400cd.

Budget is around £300 but will go slightly over if the extra money is beneficial.

Any suggestions?

If you fancy PVA rather than TN (which I would for any photo work) the Hyundai W240D PVA http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=721743 every input you can think of, well apart from display port.

On site warranty as well so maybe OCUK customer service will not be an issue.

I did notice that and the PVA bit caught my eye as i have been told in the past they are good quality panels but i have my doubts on buying a hyundai monitor. :/ isthere any other mnitors you know of that use the PVA panel?

Plenty, that Hyundai uses a Samsung panel the same as used in the Dell 2407WFP, and a number of Eizo models as well as some of Samsungs So the Panel is certainly good enough.

My Brother has the TN version and the build quality is great he has had no problems with the monitor as a whole unit and he uses it for general PC stuff, gaming also connected to his Freeview box, DVD player and Wii all of which work flawlessly.

I dont have any doubts on the panel, what i meant was can you point me in the direction of any of the other brands/models which use the PVA panel. Reading the review bumps my interest somewhat however the review is a bit old and the other panel brands seem to have come along sinse then, how does it comepare to something slightly more expensive such as http://www.ebuyer.com/product/141321 ?

Depending on your gaming use the Dell Ultrasharp 2408WFP might be worth considering. It's more expensive at £370 (inc VAT, ex Del) from PCBuyIt but you do get a nice no-dead-pixel warranty. It scores well in reviews (excellent in colour reproduction) but does have a few quirks, ie. High input lag. I've never noticed the input lag but then I mainly play WoW and CNC3.

Have you checked the input lag on the Samsung? A lot of these PVA panels use an overdrive system to increase responsiveness but this often introduces the nasty input lag.

I read about that in the hyundai review however they said it was only noticable if you go looking for it. Is there any monitors that you can recommend Bugbait?

This is quite abit above your budget but I am going by your input lag comment...

Hazro HZ24Wi is the smaller brother to the HZ26Wi and I would suspect that it will have similar input lag (average 7.5ms if memory serves me right).

Downside is it's in the £400+ region, upside is it's an H-IPS panel.

As much as i would love to be able to stretch above 400 i simply dont have the money. The highest i could really go is around 350 (ish ) but the closer to 300 the better

I have the hyundai w240d pva and I would recommend it to anyone, I paid at the time £411 and thought it was worth it so it's a bargain now.
