    fastest passively cooled gfx card?

    as title really,

looking at something to replace the integrated geforce4mx on my new shuttle sn41g2, but i dont want a whining fan in there.. so what is the best card i can get which is passively cooled - i dont know whether i would be able to get a decent (9800 type) card in there and fit a zalman too.. i'm doubting it..

I have a Sapphire Radeon 9600XT Ultimate, it has a zalman heatpipe thingy,
It just fits and no more in my Soltek Qbic. The 9800 pro/xt ones are a complete no no as they come with large fans which you can't possibly fit. Another option is to find either a 9700pro ultimate or a stndard 9700pro and fit it with a zalman, Then hack a hole in the site of your shuttle. Try the www.sfftech.com forums.
The internal fans in the Qbic seem to just about cope with the 9600xt, tho my psu is vwhiny (going to replace it with a seasonic soon).
Sorry for the grammar, its 9.23am on a Monday and this is as coherant I can get.

Zalman heatpipes wont fit in a shuttle with the lid on. Fastest i could find was a 9200SE which is in my SN45. The loudest part of a SN41G2 is the northbridge by far though, even if you stick a zalman northbridge heatsink on it as a replacement it gets VERY hot.
I dont like sig pics so i turn off sigs Which doesnt help when i dont know what ive written here! DOH!

ah, the qbic has two 5.25 bays so maybe it just has enough space.

Yeah my mate got a 9600 off Komplett (saphire one with 128Mb), cost about £70 and has pretty reasonable preformance in UT2004, passively cooled and no heat probs (in a SN45G).

sounds pretty good... might try and pickup a cheap geforce4mx for the moment, perhaps migrate my gf4 (and fit a quieter - ie TT fan to it) into it when i upgrade to some kinda new graphics card
