If you had mentioned that we would have recommended you just rma it and take no chances . sorry
Not my card by the way, and I did mention that the would be a warranty sticker much earlier in the thread post #10 http://forums.hexus.net/graphics-car...ml#post1549720
Perhaps I should have made it more clear but I did say that removing the cooler would void the warranty and they would know!
LOL we are talking a cross purposes here and not even the Op as well.
Dont worry, i guess its my fault. I was aware it would void my warranty, i was just in a rush to get it sorted, so i bought the cooler. Oh well... Is there anything i can do?
Opps appoligies, I didn't read the thread fully just commented on thermal paste removal
Going back over it, you should of started with webby's advice about swaping the two 4850's over
Would of also been good to rule out PSU issuse, Next would of been to RMA the card.Swap the cards around and see if it still happens
As is I think your only option is to buy a new card and don't be in such a rush next time.
Must admit I don't change the cooler on a new graphics card, because of rma issues, longest I've gone was 3 months oon my old 7900gs but only because it was so loud, not overheat
If I have any artifact issues I start by ruleing out drivers and PSU, then it's an RMA because no card should be haveing problems at stock settings/cooling if it is then there's a fault someware in the card and it goes back becase it should work.
Off hand I'd say the card has a bad memory chip or there's a power issue.
If you have a spare PSU you could try useing that to power the graphics card, just plug it into the card and jump start it (you cannot do this inside the case neatly, but you are just testing)
If this causes the problems to go away then it's probably PSU issues
If the problem remains then it's a bad card and as you've voided the warranty you're
You did remember to put the thermal pads on the memory as well didn't you?
Just checking
Yes, i did remember to put the thermal pads. Anyway, i have an old x600 which ill use for the time being since i cant play any games (ive lost my dvd storage case ) so i dont have any problems with it. Thanks for your help though
