ATi 4670 Problems
Hi,
I recently bought a Sapphire 4670 and I have had nothing but problems since I installed it. When it does run it runs fine no problems at all, but at least 2 or 3 times a day I get a :-
ATIKMDAG has stopped responding but was successfully recovered error
Thing is half the time I get that message and then the whole computer locks up, when I first got the card I had a Athlon X2 6000+ with Vista Home Premium(32-bit), and the drivers that came with the card. I thought it might have been the drivers that came with the card and never updated them even when the Catalyst 8.10's came out which support the card as I was getting a new processor the day after.
Anyway forward to 2 days later when I had built my new system, a Quad 2 6600, new hard drive, clean install of Vista, and what do you know the same problem!
Ati is useless they are saying its a hardware issue(as in not the card but my system) but this has happened on 2 very different systems and I am at my wits end.
Has anyone had any experience of this error or know a fix?

Re: ATi 4670 Problems
Considered that the card might just be faulty?

Re: ATi 4670 Problems
I had considered that but its such a widespread problem and when it plays games it plays them a very fast speeds with no graphics corruption, all diagnostic programs I could use show no fault with the card, it seems to be driver or windows related which is why I asked if anyone had seen the problem and if anyone knows of any possible solutions.
The same problem seems to affect both nvidia and ati cards, abiet with different error messages.

Re: ATi 4670 Problems
Its known as a TDR error, there are heaps of posts all over the net talking about it. It seems to be caused by drivers and the card "timing out" - it happens with my nvidia GTX 280 as well :(
Loads of info here but no fixes :(
