It's the scan model with a weird heatsink on it. I'd like a 9800 GTX+ but the standard ones just wont fit mySugo case.
However, these unusual heatsinks worry me for noise and efficiency

Not a lot of info there and I have not found a review for either of them using the non-stock cooler.
Just found this review and while it is not for the 9800GTX+ with the non-stock cooler it does cover palits 4850 Sonic which uses the same cooler (from a visual inspection).

So would seem it should be a reasonable cooler as long as their definition of far quieter is the same as yours!Originally Posted by Page 16 above review

edit: I will be moving from a standard 9800gtx

Bargain! Wanders off to add the new bargain price to the which graphics card shall I buy thread.

just found this article. Seems as though there are 2 lengths of 9800 GTX+ pcb

The other problem comes when you want to watercool as non-stock PCBs are hardly (if ever) supported for full cover blocks.
Well looking at it the plait one looked shorter than reference as well, still I'm not really all that surprised if you look at a pic of the 9800gtx+ without it's giant cooler the board does look very bare.
I think they made it so big for two basic reasons.
1 to make room for the giant (censored) cooler
2 to make it bigger than the 8800gts 512, we cannot have the new gtx card (which is just an overclocked, reduced size, g92) be smaller than the old gts, can we.
You might want to look at the Asus 9800gt "ultimate"
saw a review of that before, what asus did was use up there stock of 8800gts g92, by overclocking the heck out of them and rebranding them as 9800gt (unlike others who were rebranding there, 8800gt)

Pair of 4850s? and obviously a DFI P45 Jr so you can crossfire them (you didn't want any other expansion cards did you), oh and maybe a bigger PSU.
Hmm this could potentially be an expensive upgrade!
Q. What is the max size a card can be to fit in the Sugo?
A. 9.6"
Edit: As a rough guide to reference PCBs I found this on Silverstone's site
NVIDIA GeForce GTX280/260 -10.5”
NVIDIA GeForce 9800GTX/9800GTX+ -10.5”
AMD Radeon HD 4870X2 -10.5”
NVIDIA GeForce 9800GT/9600GT/GTO – 9”
AMD Radeon HD 4870/4850 -9”
So if it is a length issue then the 4870 is a good chunk shorter and could be what you need, nVidia wise your stuffed!

that's proper good info, cheers Webby.
The GTX+ is still possible cos of the newer small pcb (as discussed)
The 4870 in out cos I dont think my 400 W PSU will run it, so looks like I'm back to the 4850 or the 9800 GTX+ on a small PCB.
Silly bloody addiction, computer gaming![]()
