    ATi Catalyst...

    'lo,

I looking using an older card to power some extra screens on my PC.

I already have an HD4870, an am looking at either a Radeon 7000 or 9000 (PCI version).

So my question is: Will these older cards work with the current (8.10) Catalyst drivers?

Obviously, I can't use the old drivers with the new cards...

    Any thoughts?

    Re: ATi Catalyst...

Catalyst 8.10 is compatible back to Radeon 9500 anything earlier than that will require a different driver set.

    Re: ATi Catalyst...

No, I tried this at work with the latest drivers and a PCI 9200. No luck which was a shame, I would've liked 3 monitors...

Is it possible to have 2 driver versions installed? I guess without CCC you'd have a chance of it working maybe.

    Re: ATi Catalyst...

If you just did a manual install of the drivers (through Device Manager) it may work.

    Re: ATi Catalyst...

First person to link me to a trusted site selling a *PCI* version of an 9500 gets infinate hugs.

EDIT: Looks like they never made one...

    So now I'm stuck either buying a £100 card I don't need...

Would a card from a different manufacturer work? E.g. a Matrox?
