    24inch monitor question

I have been reading a lot of monitor reviews and people have told me that a 24inch is the way to go. I have narrowed my search down to a few monitors. At the top of my list is the DELL ULTRASHARP 2408WFP. Has anyone any experience with this monitor? I will use it for movie viewing, occasional gaming, and everyday internet use. Is this a good choice? I want a really good monitor since I won't buy another for five years or so. My main question is, is it worth the extra money to go from a TN panel to VA panel like this?

    Thanks

    Re: 24inch monitor question

Ummm how can I put this it really depends on the person TN panels are not bad they just have different plus points to VA and IPS panels.

VA and IPS are generally regarded as better as they have true 8bit colour (although some TN panels claim this as well now) and have better viewing angles. TN have deeper blacks and faster response times.

Have you tried the TFTCentral TFT selector? http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/selector.htm Give it a go and see what it suggests obviously it doesn't have all the monitors available in the world in its database but it will suggest a few which you can look out for. It will also show how important a VA screen is to your usage pattern, if it onyl suggests VA or IPS then its important if it suggests TN then its less so.

As for the 2408WFP read the review on TFTCentral it suffers from input lag if this is an issue for you only you can decide.

Has the panel type changed from the 2407 to the 2408 ?

I had the 2407 and it was great for whatever I wanted to put on it.

Yes the panel is different, same technology (S-PVA) but not the same panel.

Do the dells still suffer from high input lag? This could cause issues with FPS gaming

That is my main concern. I have read so many reviews about this monitor. Some say it is fine with the new revision. But then others say they got the old revision. Why should a person have to worry about which panel letter (Samsung) and revision number they get. It is difficult enough to choose among a hundred different monitors.
