Have you tried adjusting the fan speed using software?

The latest drivers from ATI include in catalyst control centre a fan speed adjustment option. So try that if that doesnt work then you can plug the fan into a fan controller (may require some adjustment though) or if you want to void the warranty then you can put a resister in the circuit to slow down the fan.

Try the software option first though, the fan controls are in the ATI Overdrive section.

You can't slow down a 2-pin fan with software + the overdrive options panel is grayed out - some cards don't support it :[. edit: I can enable overdrive but still, the fan control has no effect.

Is there something manufactured I can buy? maybe something like a zalman fan mate that works with 2 pin fans? =o.

Correction: some 2 pin fans can be controlled by logic on the vid card however this is a rare feature it seems, this gigabyte card cannot do it, it will let you play with the sliders in the ccc but to no effect.

Hi,theres a Zalman speed controller i think.O you have mentioned that
Think iv'e seen mention, that some cards can drop voltage to a 2 wire set up,like you say.Shame.

    Also this:-

So at a guess will get to just below half speed. You can remove Knob/unit & mount in something else.
To get really low speed prob require PWM solution,go too low with voltage & it will prob be to low to kck/start fan up.

    Cheers BOB

Well the software bit was worth a try

As far as I know the are no fan controllers designed for the smaller plug so you will need to sort out a connector yourself or you can try and force the connector onto the fan controller.

The only other thing I can suggest is you take the gold bit off the cooler, unplug the current fan and strap a quiet fan on top of the cooler.

I'm thinking of buying a zalman replacement cooler with an 80mm fan or eBaying/RMA the card to buy a different 4670 that has working fan control... probably most likely solution.
that is If I cant find an adaptor like maybe this http://www.xsfan.com/index.php?main_..._image&pID=343
to connect with a zalman fanmate ? or a fan controller with the connector, I'm surprised that these things don't exist if that is the case.
