    I swapped my 2005FPW for an S2309W

As per the title, my old Dell monitor has gone elsewhere and i've got a new one.
I did post a little thread earlier to ask people if this was going to be a good move, covering the following:

    Pros
    It's bigger
    It's newer
    It's a higher resolution (1920 x 1080 vs 1680 x 1050).

    Cons
The older one is an IPS panel, this newer one isn't (i guess it's a TN?). (Wikipedia)
The older one had a USB hub.
It also had multiple inputs, the new only has VGA and DVI.
The S2309W is 16:9 ratio (not a big con, but all my wallpaper is 16:10)

    And my conclusions?

Having swapped them over, i think it's true that the viewing angle is worse, and it isnt absolutely as sharp as the old one. Also the 2005FPW has a great stand that tilted, raised/lowered and twisted, whereas this only tilts (and overall sits a little lower).
However i think it's a keeper. I do like the bigger resolution, itunes has more space to play with, and the viewing angle is irrelevant to me since it is fine when i'm sat at the computer.
Plus it has very cool rounded off corners, a pretty cool yet understated white power light in the bottom right corner, and i like the shiny-ness.

Hmm interesting comments as I'm considering the same upgrade but the lower quality TN panel is a real concern for me. Also can I ask why you went for the 23" panel rather than the 24"?

Re: I swapped my 2005FPW for an S2309W

The 23" was only a £20 upgrade from the base 20" screen with system that I chose, whereas the 24" was something ridiculous like an extra £150. So on that basis it was no contest.
I'm still happy with the swap, although the TN panel still isnt quite as good quality. But not bad.
