    compatibility of 8800gtx

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=300278585901

hi guys, so i am planning on an upgrade.
and i wanted to know if my current computer setup (on the left) are compatible.
i plan to buy the above, but this is what he said to me:

"letting u know what happened: i have 2 psu's one that is 550watt and one that is 650watt cheap brands. ive used both of them before on the 8800gtx 4 a about a year and they worked fine its just recently when i use the card to play games like motogp 08 and call of duty the computer will completely power off by itself this happened 4 a couple of days then the pc wouldnt start again with the card in there. when i remove the card it powered up but when i replaced it it would start so i basically think its the psu because i have bought a GTX 280 and the same ting happens i also bought a 780i motherboard too and nothing happens. but a i can only take the £70 if it works coz i went out and bought a gtx 280 so i dont really need the 8600 but the 8800gtx isnt new i had it 4 about a year but it has got a bit of dust on the fans but its nothing major just get an airspray thing and spray it out."

    i have this PSU: http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/550W-...ual-Fan-Hi-End

he said that i can come and test it out. but no point if i cant get it to be compatible.. also how is the noise on this thing??

Well the only things that would be a bit doubious is your PSU, it should be good enough.
And if the card was damaged by his cheap assed psu.

    Re: compatibility of 8800gtx

The thing to remember about PSUs is that their ability to deliver power degrades over time.

IIRC (and I could be wrong) their power handling degrades at about 10% per year.
