    Unusual 9600GSO cards!!

Just noticed this card with 768mb of DDR2 memory:

    http://www.ebuyer.com/product/149115

I wonder how much slower this card is when compared to the 384mb GDDR3 version!!??

Also has anyone reviewed the 48 shader 256 bit memory version of the 9600GSO yet??

The first one contradicts itself in the ad

    768MB DDR2 Memory
Then further down in the spec listing:
    Video Memory Installed ( Max ) 768 MB - DDR3 SDRAM

    Well from xfx web site
    http://www.xfxforce.com/en-gb/produc.../9600GSO.aspx#
    the 768mb version is 192bit ddr2

The Inno3D is the new 512mb ddr3 256bit version, no idea how it fairs
    http://www.inno3d.com/products/graph...512_256bit.htm
Should be slower than the standard 9600gt 512mb
which is 64streams vs 48streams and slightly faster memory (1800mhz vs 1600mhz)

    Re: Unusual 9600GSO cards!!

It's funny the way the 8800gs was disliked but rename it to the 9600gso and there were quite a few people who though it was a great card . . .
and at the same time the 8800gt which was and still is an amazing card, rename it to the 9800gt and there's alot of people who say "pah it's just a renamed 8800gt it's rubbish.

Maybe 9600GSO rolls off the tongue better than 8800GS??

    Re: Unusual 9600GSO cards!!

Maybe because the '600' in 9600GSO puts the card more mid-range in people's minds so people expect less of it, where it was considered mid-highish (if that's a word) when it had '800' in the name? Still confusing when it's the same GPU, though. Is there actually any difference - die shrink / lower TDP for example?
