Black screen on bootup after "Windows Loading" message
I have Vista Home Premium and during bootup everything is normal, windows loading appears and then just before the windows icon screen my display says "No Signal" and goes to power saving mode. I know that windows is working as it makes the normal sounds for the login screen. I can only access windows using the VGA standard drivers. I have uninstalled all nvidia drivers, phsyx drivers, used driver sweeper and ccleaner. Then I boot back to windows with VGA mode and install different nvidia drivers, reboot and the same error occurs. I have also removed my gfx card and reseated it. I have also updated the bios for my motherboard and my graphics card to try and resolve the problem. The only change to my system before this issue was adding a 3rd HDD, which is working fine.

Perhaps a daft suggestion - have you tried plugging the monitor into the other dvi socket on the graphics card? It could be that Windows is deciding the default output is the other one.

Grrr remember reading a thread where a guy was having an identical problem to yourself and believe there was a solution in there too!. Is your monitor DVI or VGA as IIRC one input type was working and the other wasnt.. can't bloody find the thing atm, will keep looking and post back... :)

Here ya go! http://forums.hexus.net/graphics-car...card-hell.html
His problem was a currupt monitor EDID and Vista not detecting it, not saying thats yours, but is a stack of info in that thread thats gotta be of some use.. Good luck!

Thanks for the link to the old post, very helpful.
Ok so I connected my HD TV up to the gfx card using an S Video lead and everything worked. I guess the problem is either with the DVI on the gfx card, the DVI cable or the monitor itself.
