corrupt display
hi all, posting from phone so excuse the typos etc, i was playing coh earlier using my 7900gs. I left game paused for 10 mins then came back, the display was really blocky, and when quit game. It was fine in bios screen though. I decided to dedust inside and it got even worse. Now even the bios screen shows random ascii characters. The monitors work fine with my xbox so i can rule that out.

Re: corrupt display
Could it be a problem with your graphics card then?

Re: corrupt display
when you cleaned the dust could have knocked connection, make sure its sitting in slot properly

Re: corrupt display
Did you disable/unplug your fans when you cleaned it out? Could of over spun a fan and cuased over voltage damage.
or if you used a can of compressed air, right after turning off the pc, if so then the card was hot, rapidly cooled causing the damage.
or it could of cooked it's own memory
or I could be a psu issue.
Just want to give you the picture here, there are quite a few things that could be causing it.
What PSU do you have? (make, model, rail values, UL number)
Check the 12v output make sure it's not going over 12.5v or under 11.5v
Check all fans are spinning.
Check you didn't accedently break / disconnect /dislodge something.

Re: corrupt display
Nothings dislodged, I've reseated the card a few times.
No compressed air.
PSU is just some 600w one that came with the case, never had issues before though.
Fans are all spinning fine.
I've decided its time for an upgrade, going to go for 9600GT or 9800GT, I think I'll upgrade the psu while I'm at it.

Re: corrupt display
Sounds like corrupt memory on the graphics card. It will gradually get worse so probably best you're upgrading :)
