    installing ATI 9600 drivers :-S

    OK i installed the Omega drivers, and they made a mess, so i..

    - removed them (via the control panel)

    - rebooted (loaded in low res mode)

    - located the catalyst driver i was using before (wxp-w2k-catalyst-7-981-040127m-013420c.exe)

    - got 1/2 way into the installation, and i get "severe, please setup your display addapter with a std VGA driver..." (see below)

    - what it going on, why wont it just work

    - even the XP "found new hardware" thing wont work

    HELPPp - i need 1280*1024 back!!

    thanks daniel

    Sounds like the Omegas haven't been uninstalled properly. Quick search on the forums revealed Driver Cleaner.

    http://www.driverheaven.net/cleaner/

    Never used it myself, but recommended by others (so you can't blame me if it all goes horribbly, horibbly wrong)

    Hope this helps

    Mike

    Oh, and what drivers have been on the install before? Have there been nVidia, or has it always been a 9600?

    SR updates itself a lot, if it has the disk space to do so anyway.
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();
