    HD 4870 : 512mb vs 1024 mb

    Gaming at a resolution of 1680*1050 will the 1gb version of the 4870 be worth the extra money?

    In true indecissive nature, possibly!

    It will provide less off a boost at 1680*1050 than at 1920*1200 but you will see the biggest benefits when applying AA.

    Personally if it is a price difference of ~10% I would probably go for the 1GB if it is much more than that I would stick with the 512MB yes you will lose a bit of potential performance but the saving will be worth it.

    I agree with Webby entirely. The 216 shader version of the GTX260 is also worth a look if it is similiarly priced to an HD4870 1gb .

    ATI is the better choice then!!

    Depends how much extra you're going to pay, there isn't a great deal of difference at a 1680x res
