    Is the XFX hate justified?

Looking at a few posts on here it seems that a fair few people do not like XFX.

My own experience of their products was a few years ago when I bought an AGPx8 6800GT, however upon inspection it turned out to be built on a 6800NU PCB and had a 900mhz memory clock instead of 1000mhz, I returned it under DSR and never purchased their products ever again.

Re: Is the XFX hate justified?

I'd say it's justified as those XFX customers don't get upset for no reason. It's also good that they get to be the "test subjects" and we get to see the results and make our minds up

Main reason I wouldn't buy from them is because of their current policy of checking if the card is faulty themselves. Also their older 79xx cards had lots of failures and just put me off buying their product. Last one is because they are real fussy on RMA's. Apparently if you remove their decal stickers (not the void warranty ones) they can't replace your card. You'd think they could easily put a new sticker on. BFG on the other hand didn't even test my card and shipped me a new one as soon as they received it.

Re: Is the XFX hate justified?

I picked up a XFX 8600 GTS from aria for £30 ish have ran it for over a year now and all is well. No over heating, no glitches. When I purchased it I knew of XFXs reputation but couldn't parse up on the price

Re: Is the XFX hate justified?

I have one of there 7900gs xxx (xxx = the super high clocked ones) still have it in the cupboard just incase as a back up card.
    Works fine.

I bare them no hate as yet, must say I'm impressed so far with what I've seen of their new ATi cards, looks like the best cooler for the 4850 and 4870 without replacing it yourself.

Re: Is the XFX hate justified?

Bought the XFX 8800GTS, even got the version with 640MB of memory because it was cheaper.

They've been quite good to me actually, the card included a copy of Lost Planet, but when I got it the serial key was invalid. So I e-mailed them, and they sent me another copy of Lost Planet, as well as a free copy of Company of Heroes for the inconvenience .
I have absolutely no reason to hate them.

Re: Is the XFX hate justified?

I've had 4 XFX cards over the years.

All 4 have failed in under 2 years.

For that reason, I don't buy them any more.

Re: Is the XFX hate justified?

Meh they've still got to go a long way to beat my all time worst card, a totally stock ATi 9700pro, all ati right down to the pcb.

It cooked it own memory chips.

Probably why I'm still deeply suspicious of ati stock coolers.

I wouldn't say that i 'hated' them, just wouldn't use them ever... Due to what i've seen of their RMA procedures...

I'd much rather pay £10 or so more to get a decent manufacturer that has a decent RMA service...

Plus the EVGA cards are purdy

Is it just a few people who have had bad experiences that are still slagging them off 3 years later a bit like the hate for Hitachi?

Yes, but at least XFX are listening and are in the process of speeding up the RMA procedure. Not a lot of companies would do that would they

Re: Is the XFX hate justified?

They dont have the best record but its all down to luck, u could just be very unlucky with the card you buy, if its the cheapest 1 or i would get one

Its like i bought a powercooler ATI x1950 pro, the x1950 pro was known as a good overclocker but i bought it and hoped i could get something out of it and not a thing most people could OC a bit but mine i had to accturally underclock 10mhz cos it was so unstable . See im unlucky no-one else had this problem but powercooler wouldnt replace it so

Re: Is the XFX hate justified?

XFX aren't in my good books atm, i bought a 9500GT of theirs and it refused to work with the latest drivers, the ones on the supplied cd worked fine so i knew the card was ok. Had a google around and, it seems, a few people with 9500GT's were having similar issues with their 9500GT's. To be fair though they weren't all XFX cards. I informed them of this and to cut a long story short all they could tell me to do was use old drivers. It was if they weren't the least bit interested in sorting out issues with low end cards.

I don't think i'll be giving them my money again.

Then again a lot of companies wouldn't have lost focus of what customer service needs to be like and consequently wouldn't have introduced such a stupid policy in the first place!!!
