It is a very nice card ;)
But it's all a question of 'do you need it'?*
Or is the money put the better use elsewhere? Cos your 8800 Ultra isn't going to be struggling that much...
*Yes of course you do :-)
Just going through some reviews of the old GTX260 against an 8800GTX at 1920x1200 resolutions and the GTX260 is quite a bit better. That and it should use less power...if the SSC is the 55nm part.
The HD4850X2 is a really good card but too long and utter poo cooling design (in my eyes :P).
Yup it is the 55nm :)
i'll have some piccys to whet your appetite soon ;)
LoL...you and Zak have virtually convinced me to get it...I am sitting here reviewing 1920x1200 monitors (again)...
But if anyone is on the Scanshot mailing list....£207 for the EVGA GTX260 SSC!
test review
Pre big bang drivers and 'only' the slower superclocked version...
I upgraded from a 9600GT to the GTX260 SSC 55nm, didn't think it was worth it initially however it has grown on me and I would do it again even if it cost me £20 more than the current price at the time.
Don't expect much of a bundle though and hope you get a good price for your 8800 ultra if your getting rid of it to fund the GTX260.
Link to the card please? Friend is after one and this is perfect
It's also on Scan's today only with a 2GB usb stick for £206.99.

May aswell, good card for the price, whats the resolution you game at?
1920x1200
Edit: Sorry you were addressing the OP.
Currently at 1280x1024 but on the look out for a 1920x1200 monitor.
Infact, Benq FP241W is £312...so am in two minds...do I go for the monitor first or the GTX250 SSC?
The alternative to the Benq is the HP LP2475 which is around £380...Benq is P-MVA, HP is H-IPS...then there is the super deal on the GTX260 SSC....
:juggle:
I can only afford 1 this month...
I'd go for the monitor first. There'll be another graphics card mega deal next month I'm betting!
I would go for gfx first, your current card will not be able to use that resolution at all well, so you will be without gaming for like a month till yuo get the new graphics card.
I'd wait a month and get both together! At least that way you can really get a boost for your money rather than two half boosts.
