Re: How do i get a new monitor without dead pixels?
The conclusion i came to is to order the same monitor again, i cannot see how 2 will arrive with dead pixels when the issue rate was estimated around 0.5% for this particular brand.
Either this or purchase from somewhere that does pixel check, but it has been pointed out to me that i could pay for such a service and then a bump in transit could cause a pixel to be damaged.
And as said the other options are to go for a Dell, or consider buying locally, local to me is around 100 mile for a decent well priced store, so that is one other option to think about.
Re: How do i get a new monitor without dead pixels?
ALL Dell monitors from PCBuyIt come with a dead-pixel guarantee:
Quote:
All of our Dell monitors are sold with a pixel perfect guarantee for the duration of the warranty period, in the unlikely event your monitor has ANY pixel defect we will arrange for the monitor to be replaced next working day,.......
They also sell on eBay with the same guarantee & accept PayPal, but I think their prices are slightly inflated to accommodate eBay's fees.

I ordered a monitor and it came with 6 or 8 bright pixels, can't remember now.... returned it and got the same monitor but with a pva panel and also a dead pixel check. still came with one bright pixel. but since i had the dead pixel check on the monitor aria (etailer i used), arranged for a courier to collect and sent me another one at no extra cost. so even if the transit does cause damage then you can just return it and try again if you can be fussed.

The only other issue i have is finding a store that both accepts Paypal and offers a pixel service. Any ideas? Thanks
Re: How do i get a new monitor without dead pixels?
Yosh where is your 100m radius starting from?
If your down south then the is likely a Novatech store near you they have branches in Cardiff, Portsmouth, Reading and Bristol.
Further North Scan is based in Bolton, Im sure the are plenty of other places you can buy from as well.
For a Monitor PC world could even be an option they do reserve and collect so you can get the online price in the store. You may have a bit of hassle trying to get them to take it out of the box to show you it working though...

See my earlier post above.
Edit: Of course, ignore my post if you don't want to buy from eBay.
Re: How do i get a new monitor without dead pixels?

My paypal account is not setup for withdrawals, and i don't like the idea that if i want to setup to withdraw paypal wants it to be a direct debit.

Yeh its indeed something to consider, i saw a thread about this seller when i was searching google, so it seems they are a popular choice to.
Re: How do i get a new monitor without dead pixels?
Just buy a samsung/dell instead of cheap crap they have 0 pixel policy for a reason
Re: How do i get a new monitor without dead pixels?
Just found a way you could pay via Paypal funds & thought I'd share.
Get their Topup Card, load it with PP funds & use it 'almost anywhere you see the Visa sign':
Quote:
Where can I use it? Your PayPal Top Up Card can be used online, over the telephone, in stores, abroad and at cash machines - almost anywhere you see the VISA sign. That's over 26 million places all over the world.
More details, FAQs, etc in the link above.
Re: How do i get a new monitor without dead pixels?
Sorry, bit of a hijac here, but could you not be ready when the delivory man comes, plug it in, and test it, then if it has one reject the delivory, put it back, and send him/her back.
If it is fine, just sign for it.
Re: How do i get a new monitor without dead pixels?
My Dell 2709 from OcUK came with a Stuck Pixel guarentee, just as well as there was a single red one, slap bang in the middle of the screen :) Dell exchanged it no problem, but I'm not sure of their policy on DEAD pixels, just struck/always on ones.
Re: How do i get a new monitor without dead pixels?
Just buy a new monitor. You are grossly overestimating what a 2% chance means. If you order any monitor, 49 out of 50 times, it will be without dead pixels. I've had three TFTs, and none have had any dead pixels to them.
