To Dual GPU or Single GPU.

As of recently I've been looking at both the GTX 295 and the GTX 285; and if it wasn't for FS2004/FSX (probably two of my most played games) I would simply opt for the 295; but there's my dilemma.

Both FS2004/FSX doesn't take advantage of more than one GPU, so the 295 should be running at 280 speeds in FS2004/FSX (which should be fine since they're both much more CPU dependant), but I think there have been reports than the FPS in FSX especially, have been awful ~15 FPS.

    Could anyone confirm this?

If you ahve an intel chipset and want an nvidia card it would make sense to go for the dual GPU as then you essentially have sli but on a better chipset motherboard
    Insert clever sig here...

What are you playing that needs more power than a 285?

Games like Crysis and Far Cry 2 are two games I'd love to play. At the moment I think I'll have to get the 285 to "play safe", as I can't find any benchmarks of the 295 in FSX.

What else is in your PC? I recently put in a GTX260 (EVGA SSC) and the CPU is holding me back Need to overclock that.

...before you go grab the GTX285...

An old review of the GTX260
    Core 2 Duo X6800 Extreme (Conroe) (2.93Ghz I think)
    2048 MB (2x1024MB) DDR2 CAS4 @ 1142 MHz Dominator Corsair
    nVIDIA nForce 680i SLI (eVGA)
    NVIDIA ForceWare 177.34

    GTX260 results on Crysis

BTW, your money your choice. Can't go wrong with the GTX285...I just think its overpriced.

Thanks for that, I think I'll still go for the 285, as I suppose it could get better, increasing the divide as the Drivers mature.

Many thanks everyone, I've been overly impressed with the support in this forum.
