    Question Hazro: Any good?

Hi, I asked the Man Who Can @ Scan & he say 'No'!

Just that Hazro's 30" monitor supposedly uses the same panel as Dell's but is overall nearly £300 or so cheaper atm... (only from OCUK AFAIK )

Why won't Scan get them in then, darn it?! Maybe I should ask in their forums. I'd rather buy from them than OCUK, but they're the only ones in this country selling 'em AFAIK (pls correct me if mistaken, cheers)...

I've had my finger hovering over the "buy" button for a couple of months now, but you've already pointed out the main drawback.

Hazro's website gives me absolutely zero confidence about their long-term survival prospects, and if they did disappear I'd be left at the mercy of OCUK's legendary after-sales service if something did go wrong. To be fair I've never actually had a bad experience with OCUK, although in all honesty I haven't used them that much - what puts me off is the idea of buying a high-value item with a higher-than-average possibility that it will have to go back for one reason or another (as tends to be the case with monitors as opposed to other hardware), and I don't want to find out the hard way that their reputation was justified.

Novatech also had them listed until quite recently, but they seemed a bit confused about the specs. There was supposedly a newer model which used the LG-Phillips Q5 panel (as used in the Dell 3008WFP), but then they changed the listing - same specs, but under the heading "as used in the Dell 3007WFP-HC" (which used the older Q3 panel). It's now listed as "no longer available" which has at least cleared that problem up. OCUK also had the newer model listed at one time, but then it disappeared leaving only the previous Q3 panel version.

Hazro monitors seem to be very well regarded *when* they're working OK, and the 30" model seems the most problem-free of the range, but personally I'm going to wait a couple more months to see how things pan out in terms of new models, new suppliers, and Hazro's continued existence...
