    AGP aperature size

    I have a Radeon 9500@9700pro
    XP2500@3200
    and 1gig of PC3200

For benchmarking, what AGP aperture size would you suggest (3dmark)

There have been numerous threads on this topic, but most people suggest 128 megs. My advice though is to play around with it and see what works the best for you.

ye its a mystery really, if ur talkin about 3d mark benching, the favoured size is differs from system to system. As spritz says, play around with it.

There are many myths as to what you should set it to. I remember someone did a benchmark thread with them from 32Mb to 256Mb and it made something like 2-3 3DMarks each way.

    Hi
Surely there has to be some sientific answer to the question. I mean what does agp aperture do?
Is it just one of those things in bios that is outdated and not needed nowadays.

there will be a scientific answer but as the thread topic is about benching, it has no real effect in this catergory really.

well if it has no effect on benchmarking why does it matter? I tried changing agp aperture around and the difference on 3d marks 01/03 was hardly noticable on my radeon 9600xt. Similar to what you guys have said but if agp aperture has some effect on scores then it must be doing something to the grahics process.

I've not noticed any real increase in speed with AGP size, but i tested 3dmarks 2003 with all the aperture sizes and found 64MB to be the one with the least stuttering and consistant frame rate.
