a tolerable graphics card for 1920x1200

i recently got a new (b)BQ G2400W 24'' monitor so now i have a dual screen BQ and Hannsg 22'' monitor. I play Guild Wars and Counter strike most of the time and since i got new monitor, i notice that the frame rate going down quite a bit.

Curently, i have nvidia 8600gt and Im looking for a new graphic card that let me play guild wars in 2 screens in full resolution with dual dvi input.

    Any suggestions are welcome! thx

The cheapest card would be an HD4830. They are around £80 on Ebuyer.

    true,

But look for an HD4850 1Gb, I reckon that should be about the right level if you're running two screens at high res. Get other opinions though.

No it won't, especially not at the higher resolutions. With those games a 4850 1gb would be perfect - maybe even overkill.

BTW you can get an HD4870 512mb for around £150 and the 1gb version for around £170.
It should be around 20% faster than a HD4850.

Re: a tolerable graphics card for 1920x1200

lol kalniel, you dont play gw do you?

what i meant about gw on 2 screens was running 2 accounts on 2 seperate screen XD. I tried drag gw on other screen but it wont work and from what i heard gw doesnt' support multi-screen.

I may wait till april or so for the price of amd/ati graphics cards to drop since i heard that they will realease a new card or something. Try to save money wherever i can XD.

I'm poor and skint right now so no new graphic card till next month or april lol

I agree, especially with the first bit. That CPU is admirable

2 boxing is still easier on 2 PC's tbh. But so long as the twin core CPU spreads the load, it'll be fine.

Do you have the AMD patch for twin cores? It helped spread the load better than the BIOS can manage.... at least it does for Lineage2.

Re: a tolerable graphics card for 1920x1200

pleasure my dear chap.. a pleasure.

I found it made my X2 3800 at 2.4gig work much faster in older games by doing a muuuch better job od spreading the cpu load.

IL_2 for example increased in performance massively with it.

In games like Lineage2, where the games clock speed is taken from the core clock of the cpu, it stopped the game getting confused by two slightly differing cpu core speeds.

Re: a tolerable graphics card for 1920x1200

Well when I get some games installed on my PC (long story) them I'll be able to see how it goes, haven't got anything installed at the moment, mainly because I'm bored of all my games.
