PC won't sync to my Sony Bravia KDL - 32L4000

    Hi,

I'm having problems with connecting my LCD TV Sony Bravia KDL - 32L4000 to my PC. When I boot my computer it shows the initial screen that pops up for ASUS motherboard but then disconnects. It then shows the Windows XP loading screen but disconnects again and completely loses sync. It works fine when I go into BIOS but will not go past the Windows XP loading screen.

The lead I purchased to connect my TV to my PC is a "VGA SVGA 15 PIN Cable PC to LCD Plasma TV Lead 2M ". I've tried sooooo many things to get it to work with no luck.

My graphics card is an NVIDIA GeForce 8500GT 1GB.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Ulcerative.

Lol, it's fixed now. It was due to the resolution. The reason it was working in bios was because it was at the default 800 x 600 resolution but when it changed to the higher resolution of the OS it lost sync. I had to change my resolution to 800 x 600 for it to initially recognise the computer and then I was able to change it to a widescreen resolution.

More than likely the native res will be 1366x768 sometimes the nvidia drivers wont do that res, it will be 1360x

I am having the exact same problem. Could you give me a detailed run through of how you eventually resolved the problem so I can gt my pc up and running on my bravia.

    Thanks

Re: PC won't sync to my Sony Bravia KDL - 32L4000

Have a look at page 36 of the manual. It states the resolutions the TV will accept over the either the HDMI or the VGA connection.

Connect you PC to a monitor, change it to 1280x768 or lower, shut it down, connect ot the TV and start it up.

If in doubt set it to 800x600 first then bump the resolution once it's connected to the TV.

I can get the pc to load in safe mode but when i change the resolution to 640x480 or 800x600, apply it, and then restart the pc and tv still won't sync. I really don't get it

Re: PC won't sync to my Sony Bravia KDL - 32L4000

When i'm logged in on safe mode and the pc's attached to my tv there is no option to chane the refresh rate. It just says that it is using the hardwares default. (my tv is actually a sony bravia kdl-40p25 by the way but I don't think that should change anything).

Its so frustrating as there must be a way to get it up and running as its fine in safe mode and up to he XP loading screen.lol

Re: PC won't sync to my Sony Bravia KDL - 32L4000

Have you tried setting it to 640x480 @ 50Hz with a regular monitor, then connecting the TV?

that way if you chang eit to something it can't handle you just have to wiat 15 seconds and it reverts to the previous settings.

Re: PC won't sync to my Sony Bravia KDL - 32L4000

I can help you with this - assuming you connect your pc to your tv using a dvi to hdmi lead:

put settings at lowest possible option - ie 800 x 600 at 24 bit and accept

then your sony tv will magically sync with your pc and allow you to set at 1080p or whatever setting you want .

Dont know why this works - but took me 3 days of trial and error and bingo!

YOu will then be set with the next problem - which is your desktop size will be bigger than your screen which I havent yet got the answer too = apart from setting your resolution at really low setting for pc applications then upping video mode to 1080p using whatever games control you are playing

    Hope this helps you

    Jon

Re: PC won't sync to my Sony Bravia KDL - 32L4000

if your desktop is larger than the screen one of two things are happening,

    1. Your monitor can not handle the resolution so is just showing the central piece or top corner or whatever

    2. The TV is over-scanning you can probably solve this by selecting the TV and setting it to a 1:1 pixel mapping setting (not sure what Sony call this) or alternatively ATI drivers certainly offer an option to underscan which will bring it back in order they also offer a number of HDTV compatibility settings which are probably worth selecting, I would expect nvidia drivers to offer similar functions.
