    Is this a P2 case??

    I would get an HD4650 GDDR3:

    http://www.ebuyer.com/product/151454

This is much faster than the normal GDDR2 version.

Are you willing to buy a card secondhand?? You can get a Nvidia 9600GT or 8800GT for under £60 off Ebay.

    Re: Graphics card for £50

I would go for an HD4670 or HD4650 with a single slot cooler as this will mean you could still use your PCI slot. The main disadvantage of this is that heat will be dumped into the case. However the HD4670 and HD4650 do not require a molex connector as they are bus powered cards and do not produce much heat as a result. Also since they are short cards the airflow to the ICE cooler will not be disturbed.

The SP35P2 should be easily able to handle the graphics card as my earlier SD37P2 could handle a dual slot 8800GTS 512MB with no issues!!

Like I mentioned before the HD4650 GDDR3 will be the best new card in your price range:

    http://www.ebuyer.com/product/151454

Seems to be a single slot card:

    http://www.e-trend.co.jp/pcparts/207...ct_158925.html

Here is a review of another HD4650 GDDR3 from Sapphire with the same GPU and RAM speeds to get an indication of the performance of the HD4650 GDDR3:

    http://www.elitebastards.com/cms/ind...=647&Itemid=27

If you want greater performance you can get a dual slot HD4670 for just £60 delivered from Novatech:

    http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/s....html?NOV-4670

The HD4670 has a GPU core clocked 150mhz higher than the HD4650 GDDR3 and RAM which is clocked at 1ghz. This means it will have 10% to 20% higher performance.

    Re: Graphics card for £50

I got a 4670 recently for £60, slightly over your £50 budget, but it's much much better than my old X1600 Pro... the new level of detail and high frame rate are a pleasent welcome! I would assume that the 4650 (in your budget range) would also be a nice card.

thanks for the info. i just want to try and stay away from a big card kicking out huge fan noise in a shuttle. but i think its worth paying the extra for a 4670 DDR3

This card will do the job:

    http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/s....html?NOV-4670

According to the user reviews the card is a Palit HD4670 Super!

    Re: Graphics card for £50

If your main concern is noise and you're not afraid to splash the cash a bit more, Sapphire do a passively cooled 4670 if you can find one (it's £66 from scan on pre-order, no eta). Otherwise, just shop around for the best deal you can get on one - CAT's link looks like a good price to me, but don't forget that for a 4670 you'll be able to get free shipping from both Scan and Ebuyer.

Novatech do free postage also BTW. The passively cooled HD4670 may do the job too but I am a bit worried whether the clearance in the case will be sufficient though.

    Don't dismiss the 8800GS @ £50 + postage = 9600GSO, check the reviews for either 9600GSO or 8800GS, think you'll find it's on par with the 4670 and probably a bit cheaper.

That should fit fine. If you do not mind loosing your PCI slot I would gof for the Novatech one as it has a quieter cooler. The passively cooled HD4670 has a heatsink on top of the card which may make it too tall to fit easily. The only way to be sure would be to check the height of the card and the amount of clearance in the case.

The 8800GS will be faster in some games than an HD4670 but has much higher power consumption and as a result will dump more heat into the case than an HD4670. The 8800GS requires an additional power connector too unlike the HD4670 which is bus powered.
