Trying to ger Powercolor HD3850 AGP Working in my computer Help

I had bought a Powercolor HD3850 AGP Graphics card for my computer. Originally I had a thermaltake 420w power supply but since the card wouldnt work I figured it wouldnt provide enough power. So I replaced that psu with a 550w BFG Tech Power Supply. Basically the card doesnt display and the system doesnt boot (gpu fan doesnt spin). The fan on the card twitches when the main power is turned on, if the 6 pin pci-e power connecter isnt connected the fan will spin, sometimes if I leave the computer off for a while and then turn it on the fan will spin but I get no display at all.

The specs of this machine are as follows:

Elitegroup ECS KV2 Extreme Motherboard (VIA Chipset)
    Athlon 64 4000+
    1gb Ram (2x 512mb)
80gb western digital eide (7200 rpm)
    250gb Maxtor eide (7200 rpm)
    640gb western digital sata (7200tpm)
    Pioneer DVD-RW eide
    Sound Blaster Audigy 2 GS
550w BFG GX Series Power Supply
    Powercolor HD3850 AGP 512MB

One strange thing I would like to mention is there are 6 pins with 2 jumpers on the card itself, I have no clue what they are for but I have tried putting the jumpers in different configurations but it doesnt seam to change anything.

Any idea what could be wrong? Could it be a setting I need to change? Could the card just be bad?

It could be that your graphics card is DOA. Also another problem could be that your motherboard chipset may not be compatible with the HD3850. I would make sure that your motherboard has the latest BIOS installed.

Re: Trying to ger Powercolor HD3850 AGP Working in my computer Help

My Motherboard bios is the latest, My old card displays fine so I am thinking it might just be a bad card. I have seen other forums where people had a kv2 Extreme running a HD3850 AGP so I doubt its incompatibility.
