    1920x1080 24" monitor

Hello, about 4 months ago i purchased an the Iiyama ProLite E2407HDS.I was moving up from a 17" monitor that had a resolution of 1280x1024,and was very cheap and simple. The difference was night and day, being a gamer i thought i had made the right decision. Now 4 months on and im thinking i made a mistake, everywhere i read people say 1920x1200 is leaps and bounds better..and i want pretty image quality in my games,i kinda made a quick decision without thinking, coming from such a small screen size and resolution i was excited.Could someone who has tried both resolutions tell me if its worth buying a new monitor that has 1920x1200 resolution? if it is only a small difference then i wont buy because i could do with saving the money, especially during these times. If its a really big difference i probably wont be able to stop myself buying. My graphics card is GTX 260 and E7200 cpu, handles all my games well except for crysis(without config) and GTA 4,everything else runs smooth.

    Cheers

The monitor you have as a 16:9 ratio which is better for watching films. I prefer 16:10 as I find it better for word processing and viewing documents as it is has more height(1200 pixels vs 1080 pixels). For gaming it just gives you a wider aspect ration and many games can natively support this.

If you are happy then don't worry about it.

Couldn't agree more with what CAT said. If you've moved up from 1280 x 1024 then I can't see you missing the extra 120 pixels height that 1920x1200 would give you. Plus moving to a 1920x1200 would force your games to render 10% more pixels!

No real need to worry to be honest - in terms of gaming, the difference isnt that great, and bear in mind that with a lot of games being multi-platform (ie. Consoles), more often than not, they are locked to the 16:9 ratio that HDTVs ahdere to. FEAR2 is one such game, I can run it in 1920x1200 with the correct aspect ratio, but there are borders. Doesnt happen a lot, but its something you wont have to worry about now

If your primary use is gaming/films then Just enjoy it... you wont look back to a smaller monitor again!

Don't believe everything you hear from people.

It is like telling you how much faster a quad core is but if you've never experience it how would you know...

I'm planning to get a 22" 1080 monitor like yours because it is cheaper and probably takes up slightly less space.

    Re: 1920x1080 24" monitor

I have a 23" 16:9 and a 22" 16:10 running side by side and tbh the 22" "feels" bigger then the 23", weird eh? I was so bothered by this that i actually did some trignometery to see if it was actually right, but when i worked out the results , the 23" was marginally bigger in area. lol

The main benefit of a 16:9 monitor is that you can watch tv shows/ anime without the black lines top and bottom.

Gaming-wise, comparing the 22" when it was my main display compared to the new 23", it feels exactly the same. I cant tell the difference. And in my opinion you tend to get so absorbed into the game that you dont really notice these things. I can even play CS:S on my 15" laptop screen just as good as when i play on my main rig.
