Palit 9400 GT - Any good?

I'm looking at getting a replacement card for my 7900GS as it's starting to artifact slightly in games - it's easily rectified by minimising and maximising game but it will probably get worse and worse.

So, I don't really need anything fancy as I just play WoW - so how would this card hold up? Has anyone got any experience of these Palit cards from scan?

That card will be worse/at best equal in games. I would go for something such as 9600GT minimum. I would reccomend the HD4830 which is EOL but about £73 and performs similarly to a HD4850.

Cheers, I've always been an nVidia man, the only time I've bought ATI I had problems playing games in windowed mode. Seemed the card had trouble with the windows 2D speeds, was stuttering and was generally unplayable so it kinda put me off. However a few years have passed so guess I should reconsider ATI

I have an HD4830 and it would be a great upgrade from you 7900GS!!

For under £75 it is excellent value for money:

Yeah I was looking at the 4830 and the 4850 a few months back. They seem like solid cards for a good price. Guess it's better I get something decent than something that looks like (now let's be honest here) I made myself.

There is also the RV740 GDDR5 coming out next month which will be slightly faster than the HD4830 and have lower power consumption. Whether it will be cheaper than the HD4830 is uncertain though as I assume that the lower prices for the HD4830 are to sell the last stocks off quickly.

HD 4830 is EOL so is going cheaply.
