Bus powered HD4830!!

    Wow!! This is interesting:

    http://www.techpowerup.com/91388/Tri...Connector.html

First 800 stream processor HD4830 cards and now a HD4830 which has the same stock clocks as a normal card but NO PCI-E power connector.

I suppose overclocking maybe not as good but the card is really small and seems even shorter than the non-reference Force3D version which is pretty small too!!

I wonder if some custom HD4770 cards will come out which will be bus powered??

It could easily be "Nvidia<model number>!!" if they actually introduced anything interesting in the sub £100 market!!

Hopefully some reviews of the "Green Edition" graphics cards will come out soon!!

These new lower power GPUs means that SFF PCs can use lower power PSUs and also will require less cooling for the whole as the graphics card is a major source of heat. The shorter PCBs are also a nice addition too!!

I don't really care that much for all these higher end cards with their daft power consumption figures(HD4890 and GTX275) and the fact that they produce enough heat to boil an egg.

The HD4890 was interesting as it may actually be able to exceed 1ghz due to a different PCB and VRM. The first 1ghz GPU!!

This is really quite interesing - I'm amazed at how short the card is, and they've beaten NVidia as the 9800GT green reference is supposed to be longer (they're pretty much non-existent right now).

    Re: Bus powered HD4830!!

Very interested. Was going to build a lightweight system soon with an HD4830 in it. If I can get a low power one, I'l be very pleased
