Cheap gtx280 on newegg, should i buy it?

I've been building my pc (a core i7 920 rig) and I wanted to buy a gtx 280 for it. Today, i stumbled across this one

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150326

100 dollars cheaper than the others... seems a bit suspicious... but it IS a gtx 280.

Has anyone had any experience or know anything about this xfx card? Would any experts recommend this one, or is there another one I'd be better off with.

I came here asking for help only because i've exhausted my resources in terms of deciding what gfx card to get. I need some help deciding!

putting the model number GX280NZDFF into a search engine results in loads of other stores listing it as a gtx 280, so should be fine.

true, but why is it a 100 bucks cheaper on newegg than anywhere else and why does it have so few reviews? this seems sketchy even though it DOES looks like it is a gtx280, plain and simple.

Also, I was wondering if anyone knew whether this model was 45nm or 55nm, i can't seem to find out anywhere i look. And the fact that the memory clock is 4Mhz under the standard... isn't that odd?

You mean 55nm or 65nm. And its most likely old stuck 65nm, no better than the 55nm just a tad more power consumption,.

    There are no 55nm GTX280's Btw - that is a GTX285.

Re: Cheap gtx280 on newegg, should i buy it?

Honestly, I'd look around a bit for a similarly-priced GTX 285 (even though it might be slightly more). The GTX 285 is essentially the same as the 280 except it is 55nm instead of 65 nm, which results in slightly faster clock speeds, slightly lower temps & power consumption, and reportedly runs a bit quieter. Also, you can find models of the GTX 285 that have nearly 2 GBs of VRAM (I forget the exact amount at the moment). Seems to me the GTX 285 would be a better buy, even if it costs a little more. ^_^

Thanks for the responses. I went ahead and bought it seeing as it was 100 dollars off and I don't have enough money to spend on a 285. I'll be quite satisfied with this i'm sure!
