That explains why your posts have been boarder-line spam and less than helpful. Regardless, enjoy you free delivery.
19 posts today then a thread about free delivery?
I really hope you're going to stick around and not abuse the offer![]()
20 spam-free posts and regular contribution to the forum, I trust?
jdmanonamission - what is this mission?
A mission to get free shipping from SCAN and then disappear?
And
You can't just expect the free shipping to be given... it is entirely at SCANs discretion whether or not to allow the user to benefit from the scheme...ill be calling ur direct line very soon for my latest order and I fully expect my free delivery
Yup, and forum admins sometimes tip them off to accounts...
and TBH, some of your posts are completely unrelated to the topic (such as revol86 said) the reaperX one... "there is a lesson to be learnt here, never buy from PC world"
WTF?
All the OP wanted to know was what overclocks people were getting...
There was no mention at all of problems or experience with PC world, the only mention of them was "reaperX from PC world"
suspicion confirmed, fair enough I'll not begrudge anyone saving a few quid (especially in the case of Scan since they charge us Northern Irish through the nose for postatge) but is it really that hard to hit 20 posts whilst still actually talking sense or having a relevant point?
"The less you eat, drink and buy books; the less you go to the theatre, the dance hall, the public house; the less you think, love, theorise, sing, paint, fence, etc., the more you save – the greater becomes your treasure which neither moths nor rust will devour – your capital. The less you are, the less you express your own life, the more you have, the greater is your alienated life, the greater is the store of your estranged being." Karl Marx
That's unconnected to the topic, but as we've said several times, we do offer a reduced shipping carriage rate to Northern Ireland... obviously as it costs us more, free carriage is out of the question.
Ring retail for costing details.
I think it makes it very fair taking off the price of usual shipping for premium services and shipping to places where it costs more. Still will make it that much cheaper compared to other stores.
The requirement ifrom the rules reads:
"With you all registered and logged into the site you are required to make 20 constructive posts before the system will allow you to register with Scan. You will now need to wait till midnight of the day when you reach 20 posts in order for the database at Scan to recognise your registration. So go off, have a cup of tea, eat some food, and come back and join in discussions here if you want, before getting some sleep, ready for the new day."
The nature and frequency of your posts today (every 2 minutes!) makes them borderline Spam.
However it is Scan's call - as they are making the offer - so I will let them decide whether the posts qualify as constructive or not. There is also a requirement to continue to make constructive posts in order to remain qualified (which Scan monitor) so I hope you don't think that you can just breeze in and breeze out again and continue to benefit from Scan's generosity without contributing to the community.

Also, why did you post this thread in the wrong section...
and it doesn't help your case that you posted the magical 20 times, then posted saying you wanted free shipping and disappeared...
but ofcourse i'm just cynical![]()
Just to be clear, we do expect posts to be constructive, and reserve the right to delete any we think are spamming, especially for the purposes of just qualifying for free delivery. However, what's constructive and what isn't is somewhat open to interpretation. Personally, after a quick review, I see nothing here in jdmanonamission's posts that I would consider spamming, to the point of deleting them. Many of them might not be highly academic or the most profound of comments but then, we don't require that.
Some of them might be fairly brief, but we don't stipulate a minimum length.
Each of them appears to be relevant, and pretty much adding something, even if it's just a brief opinion. That's fine too. I regularly see 20 posts consisting of one or two words answers, of the nature of "greaqt stuff" or "thanks for that". That type of comments are so generic as to be meaningless, so if I see 20 of those and then they stop, or the poster heads straight for the Scan forums, I'll reserve the right to delete them, and on a fair few occasions, have done exactly that.
As for posting a comment every minute or two, well, there's no problem, inherently, with that either. It's what is posted that matters, and if those 20 posts are constructive it doesn't really matter what period they were posted over.
Ultimately, it's a judgement call. jdmanonamission seems to be taking part. A high spurt of initial posts might be spamming for the post count, but it also might just be enthusiastic posting. I err on the side of the latter, and don't delete posts unless I think they're CLEARLY spamming. jdmanonamission certainly doesn't fit my definition of that, so they're not posts I'd delete.
So he's past stage one of qualifying as far as I'm concerned. There's nothing I see as a breach of forum rules that justifies doing any deleting. But stage two is what Scan make of it. It is, after all, their offer and their right to determine whether to grant it or not. Even if I did delete posts, it's still their decision as to whether to accept the member's request for the offer, according to the terms of the offer.
In terms of forum membership, I'd ALWAYS rather welcome and encourage new members. We're supposed to be a friendly sort of community, after all. And my presumption will therefore be that people are three for legitimate reasons, until and unless they demonstrate otherwise.
Is it suspicious that someone arrives, posts 20 times and immediately goes after the Scan deal? Well, yeah. But it's also quite legitimate, providing the posts are constructive and not "spamming". We don't, after all, have a minimum length of membership to qualify, and we could do that easily enough. Say, 20 posts and been a member a week, month or whatever. But it could well unnecessarily cost Scan the sale from people that might go elsewhere, and could unnecessarily cost Hexus members that will subsequently become high posting, long-term members.
So to sum it up, if jdmanonamission only posted to get the Scan offer, that's fine if he qualifies under the rules. If he stays around, and I hope he does, so much the better. If he doesn't stay around, and comes back in a few months for another bite of Scan's free shipping cherry and his posting profile shows that he vanished after ordering, well, the have his name and address not just a forum name, and could always then decline to continue with the free shipping offer, if they wish, be cause they have real personal details, not just a forum name.
In the meantime, let's all welcome jdmanonamission.
fair enough Saracen but did you have to delete my post for no reason?
